Come and celebrate Christmas with us! Experience the joy and wonder of the season at Watermark.

Waiting can be difficult. We’ve all experienced delays where our internal clock begins to tick telling us the outcome should come sooner rather than later. Or when things feel beyond our control and we’re at the mercy of someone else. Waiting is also hard when you are going through a season of seemingly unending pain. We can sympathize with psalmist who asked, “how long, Oh Lord?”.
As we approach the Christmas season we are approaching a season of waiting. We call it advent. Advent means coming. In one sense it’s a time of reflection. It’s a time to slow down and remember that the Savior of the world, God himself, was born as a human baby. We remember the humble circumstances of his birth and worship with amazement the lengths our God went to save the world.
Advent is also a season that looks forward to Jesus’ second coming where all the work that his first coming accomplished is fully realized. It reminds us that we are all waiting. Once this waiting is realized all our difficult waits will be over. There will be no more internal time clocks or seasons of sufferings. We will be fully at ease seeing Jesus’ full control exercised over all his creation.
This Christmas season we are launching into a series titled Waiting. This series will encourage us to shift our focus from the waits of this life to Jesus, the one whose return we eagerly await. So, come, bring friends, and be encouraged this Christmas season.

Join us on Christmas Eve at 5 pm as we celebrate the birth of Jesus by candlelight. Lights will be dimmed, candles will be lit, and your favorite Christmas songs will fill the air as we are reminded about this good news of great joy that is for all people. Bring your family and friends as we reflect on the miracle of Christ's birth and light candles to symbolize the light of Christ shining in the darkness.

We are excited to rejoin the effort this Christmas season at Portsmouth’s Holiday Nights at the Park. We will hand out cups of hot cocoa provided by the city and frozen custard from Rick's Frozen Custard. We will have other items to give away throughout the month, including the devotional booklet written by Watermark's members and knit hats and gloves.
Come and enjoy the lights and say hi or if you want to help pass out these things sign up below.
The Watermark family has written a Christmas Devotional this year which we hope adds to your joy this season. Download the online version below or grab one at the Next Steps table on Sunday.
This year our Christmas offering will go towards upgrading security on our campus. We will also continue to give our missionaries a year-end gift. As God enables and leads you to give above and beyond your normal giving, we are grateful to join together as a church to take care of these needs. We are excited to see how God will use your giving and you, His church, to accomplish big things this coming year.
